As part of the National Children’s Hospital activities for their patients, several boys and girls were taken out to the Tobias Bolanos Airport in Pavas for a day they will never forget.

A total of 44 children from the Palliative Care program as well as survivors from the Trauma Unit boarded helicopters and small planes for a much anticipated and longing experience: to be able to fly.

The event was organized by the National Children’s Hospital along with the National Pavas Aeronautical Association and companies of the private sector.  Chief medic of the Trauma Unit, Dr. Marco Vargas, expressed that the children were given wings to fly and that they responded with tears of joy and immense gratitude.

In addition to the children’s one day adventure of soaring though the air and experiencing San Jose from a different point of view, the children were also entertained by the popular clown ensemble Los Pirulos.

Recent Latin American Idol runner up, Maria Jose Castillo, was also present at the event where she sang and spent time with the children.  Maria Jose also took the opportunity to share her recent success of having obtained a Gold Record for her CD sales in Central America.
